Born in 1948, Takeshi Saji has been manufacturing kitchens for nearly 50 years with the Saji Uchiamono Company. He is the 3rd generation of his family involved in knife manufacturing, pioneering Japanese style knives and using traditional techniques. Due to the uniqueness of his knives, there are many fans in Japan and around the world. Out of all our handmade Japanese knives, these are some of the most eye-catching and aesthetically pleasing. Forged using SG-2 (also known as R2) steel cores giving exceptional edge retention and clad in layers of stainless steel providing excellent protection against corrosion; these beauties will add style and sophistication to any knife collection. The layers of stainless steel produce a wonderful Damascus pattern to the blades and with the Urushi lacquered handle and Saya to pair, makes this knife a stand out piece.
The Saya featured depictions of the Japanese gods of lightning and wind: Â Raijin and Fujin. Two of the most feared and respected gods in Japanese culture. Cook up a storm with this knife at your fingertips.
